First Meeting at Glyndebourne Archive

The project team had their exciting first meeting on 18th November 2019 at Glyndebourne Archive, with (from right to left) new Glyndebourne Archivist Phil Boot, Archivist Julia Aries, MMM Research Associate Beth Snyder and project PI Norbert Meyn. The photo was taken in the current exhibition which features Émigrés Fritz Busch (conductor), Carl Ebert (director) and Rudolf Bing (general manager), who established unprecedented artistic standards at Glyndebourne in the 1930s after escaping from Nazi-Germany. The MMM project will explore the correspondences of these outstanding artists with Glyndebourne’s founder John Christie as well as documents about the work of other émigrés who worked there.
