Discovering Émigré composers - Raphael Wallfisch in conversation with Norbert Meyn - 24 March 2023

24 March 2023, 5:00pm Royal College of Music - Museum Pay What You Can

The son of Holocaust survivor Anita Lasker Wallfisch and the Émigré pianist Peter Wallfisch, cellist and RCM professor Raphael Wallfisch has performed and recorded many works by the Émigré composers from Nazi Europe featured in the current ‘Music, Migration and Mobility’ exhibition in the RCM Museum.

In this event, which will also be filmed for the RCM’s ongoing oral history project about emigre musicians, Wallfisch speaks to RCM researcher and exhibition curator Norbert Meyn about the cello concertos of Hans Gál, Berthold Goldschmidt and Franz Reizenstein, about his encounters with other Émigré musicians and about performing and recording with his father Peter Wallfisch, who was also an RCM professor.
